Ice Prince

Chocolate City hip-hop artiste Panchak Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, has signed a deal with the biggest music corporation in the world—Universal Music Group.
The ‘Oleeku’ rapper said the deal had been sealed but yet to be officially announced. However, he did not give details of the contract.
Speaking with the Pulse in a recent interview, the rapper said, “I recently signed with Universal Music Group. The official announcement hasn't been made yet. They will start first with my ‘I Swear’ track, which will be licensed in the UK, after which other tracks will follow.”
The deal would have Ice Prince expanding his fan base and reaching his audience globally through international channels.
Last November, the rapper signed an endorsement deal with telecommunication company, Etisalat, reportedly worth 20 million naira. Universal Music Group is the largest music corporation in the world.

An American-based, French-owned multinational music corporation, it currently operates as a subsidiary of Paris-based media conglomerate Vivendi.

Guru
With eight nominations in this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, celebrated hiplife artiste Guru says no artiste can be compared to him so far as winning all the hip life categories is concerned.
“I don’t know which artiste did better than me last year. Although it was a dancehall season last year, I stood out as the only hip life artiste who came out with four hit singles,” he said.
According to Guru, who has been nominated in the categories of Artiste of the Year, Hip life Song of the Year, Hip life Artiste of the Year, Best Collaboration, Vodafone Song of the year, Hiplife/Hip-hop Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year and Producer of the Year.
His famous ‘Boys Abre’ (Alkayida) song was adjudged the most popular hip life song last year.
“I want any artiste to challenge me on what I am saying. The likes of Kwabena Kwabena, Shatta Wale, Bisa Kdei and Castro did their own but when it comes to the hip life terrain I was the best artiste last year,” he boasted.
Guru, who is staging a Charity Concert to help raise funds for the school of deaf and blind at Tema SOS, said he would be very disappointed if he did not win at least five of the awards he has been nominated for.
“I am not blowing my own horns but honour has to be given to who it’s due and I believe I deserve it. I am currently putting together three hot singles which will blow the minds of Ghanaians when they’re out,” he said.

Currently under management of Empire Entertainment Guru noted that Ghanaians should rally behind him by supporting his music.

Rapper MI Abaga To Run For Local Govt Chairman in 2015 Election

African rapper and Chocolate City Vice President, Jude ‘MI’ Abaga, wishes to officially announce his intention to run for chairman of a local government in the forthcoming 2015 election.

MI will be campaigning for the position of chairman of the Takum local government in his home state of Taraba.

Speaking on his decision, Jude Abaga said, ”It is something I’ve always intended to do: use my voice as a tool for social change. So come next year, I’ll be going full on into politics and running for Local Government Chairman in Taraba State. If you notice, all my albums have politically conscious songs. From the Talk About It Album, to various songs on MI2, I’ve always spoken for the people and am confident, when the time comes, they will speak for me too.”

Chocolate City President, Audu Maikori says while they will miss Jude’s creative input to the business, they are happy to see him take this step. “I’ve worked with Jude Abaga for many years, close to a decade. And he is a trustworthy, dependent individual who has a way with words. Chocolate city family is solidly behind him and wishes him all the best in his political endeavours.”

The rapper plans to release his album and spend the last half of the year campaigning.
Already, he is putting together a team to begin organising and spearheading the campaign. Leading this team is long time political analyst and popular Wendy Simi.

“We’re confident that we’re going to win this. We’ve looked at all focus groups and the polls are showing we’re doing good. A lot of people don’t realise that MI is quite popular back in his home state of Taraba.”

Speaking on the campaign, Campaign Manager Wendy Simi stated that the Chairman song and campaign was the first part in sensitizing the youth and nation about his intent.

“We wanted people to get used to calling him Chairman. So when election time comes, it will be a lot easier to associate him with this position and vote for him. People will have already come to associate him with the position on their minds.”

On campaign strategy, she said: “We’re working on a way where all MI fans can go and register in Takum L.G.A and vote for him in the elections. We are confident this will boost our numbers and completely give us the victory.”

Jude Abaga, in a bold and controversial move, has decided not to run on any existing political party platforms, but to begin his own youth oriented party: The Forum for Unification, Constancy and Knowledge.

His mandate is expressed simply in 4 words: Solidarity, Honour, Integrity, Trust.

“We are all excited to be a part of this” said Reuben Aba T, Public relations Manager for the Campaign, “We’re calling on all youth to support this movement. And also to get ready to move to Taraba state Takum L.G.A to register and vote come 2015.”

Sarkodie shared some details of the deal with Akon’s Konvict Music that could not pull through on the March 16th edition of Hanging with KOD. He did not give specifics, but he made it clear that he was not sure Konvict had plans for him. He stated the deal dwelled more on assuring Akon made it internationally than having a plan that clearly included him.

Sarkodie sees himself as a born leader. As such, he wants to be responsible for the direction his career takes. He advises fellow artists not to become caught up in the hype. The Konvict deal would have restricted his creativity, he explains. The rapid growth of his movement and his fan base would have been held back. The label would have been able to tell him not to release any music for two years. He claims his loyalty is with his movement. A meeting with Roc Nation, owned by the renonwned Jay Z, was mentioned. He hinted that his YouTube views, Twitter following, and fan base caused the meeting to take place. That label is more of the kind he wants. He feels Roc Nation respects what he does. Readers will be kept posted about any developments.

Stay Jay
Award-winning hiplife artiste Stay Jay has cleared the air on reports which suggest he had a misunderstanding with his former management.

William Kojo Johnson, as he is also known, left Under One Entertainment to join ASB (African Star Boy) Music – of which he is the Chief Executive – after his two-year contract elapsed.

According to Stay Jay, he left Under One Entertainment on a very good note, explaining that there was no beef between his former management and himself.

“There is no beef. The contract was for two years and once it ended, I wanted to do my own thing. But we are very good friends. I decided I could help myself. That was why I created my own,” Stay Jay told NEWS-ONE.

The ‘My Baby’ singer stated that even though he had future plans of signing on other artistes to his record label, he was currently supporting an artiste called ICONS.

Currently, Stay Jay has two new hit singles – ‘S3 Aba’ which features Guru and ‘Mugu’ which features 4×4. Sources close to the artiste say he is currently shooting the ‘S3 Aba’ video

Praye Tintin
Kente, otherwise known as Praye Tinin, a former member of the stunning music trio, Praye, has for the first time disclosed that it was not his wish to leave the group, but he was chased out by his two colleagues.

Praye Tintin, after leaving the group, changed his name to Kente Sol and started working as a solo artiste. He has however given indications that he does not mind returning to the group if only his former colleagues would refund some money they owe him.

Without mentioning the exact amount, Praye Tintin disclosed on Neat 100.9 FM’s Entertainment Ghana last Tuesday that the money was over some private transactions between him and the two other members of the group, Big J and Eugene Baah (Praye Honeho).

“A point of correction, don’t say I left the group. I did not leave; I was pushed out of the group,” Praye Tintin noted on the show.
After over a year, this is the first time Tintin is speaking about the split. In all his initial public interviews he had denied there was a problem among the trio.

Tintin was responding to recent media claims by his two former colleagues that they missed him and had been calling to ask how he was faring.

Praye Tiatia and Praye Honeho
Tintin denied the claim by his two former colleagues and said they were only playing a public relations gimmick to make them look good.
He said he received calls from neither Big J nor Eugene and wondered how they could genuinely miss him and not show it in their actions.

The two others, after the split, went public with accusations that Tintin was to blame because he was secretly recording in a separate studio while they were still together as a group. They further disclosed how Praye Tintin took away a lucrative sponsorship deal for himself without taking the group into consideration.

In an interview with Peace FM then, Big J had alleged that Praye Tintin went to TV3 Music Music to perform as an individual and was turned away by Iso Paeley (Ice Baby), the producer of the show. He later went on the internet to rain insults on the producer.
He alleged further that Praye Tintin swore to apologise to Iso Paeley over his dead body, when he was asked to do so.

Barring any last minute interventions, the much anticipated April 18 boxing bout between Ayittey Powers and Bukom Banku will not come off.

Powers says God has communicated to him through his spiritual father, Nigerian Prophet TB Joshua, General overseer of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), not to fight on that day.

In an exclusive interview with Asempa Sports on Thursday, March 27, 2014 the Cruiserweight boxer maintained he was only following spiritual advise.
“As for me Ayitey powers, I want to fight, but God says I should hold on, if I fight I will win.”
Although the boxer has not officially communicated his decision to have the bout postponed to the promoters, Powers insists he will stand by his words no matter what.
“As for the fight it will come on but God says I should hold and I will abide by the prophesy of God. Whatever God says about the bout I will let people know in the near future but for now the fight is on hold,” he declared.
The bout has been the talk of the town and anticipation is reaching fever pitch as Ghanaians get swept into the euphoria of finally watching the oft-postponed fight.

The two men have been engaged in a slanging match, with Bukom Banku predicting a knockout in the 5th round, while Powers says he will ‘finish’ Banku in the 6th round.

Boxing fans  expressed disappointment and outrage at the latest development, saying Powers had taken them for a ride.
Others suggested that Ayittey Powers had pulled out of the fight to avoid the beating of his life.

There is simmering tension between two renowned Kumasi based actors Kwaku Manu and Kwadjo Nkansah popular known as Lil Win.

The two, who used to be close friends and starred in several movies together, seem to be fighting for supremacy and relevance on the silver screen. Kwaku Manu also known as “Wo ye me taste!” who just returned from a long trip abroad, has granted a number of interviews throwing several accusations at funny actor Lil Win.

According to Kwaku Manu, his colleague Lil Win’s attitude has changed towards him on his return from abroad. He claims Lil Win as distanced himself from him and that he is definitely not the Kwadjo Nkansah he knew some years back.

Kwaku alleged that for some time now, he had observed that Lil Win has refused to star in any movie in which he Kwaku Manu is involved in citing that as the reason why Ghanaian movie lovers do not see them together in movies anymore.

Kwaku made a shocking revelation that Lil Win is being ill-advised that he (Kwaku Manu) is using ‘juju’ on Lil Win so he should stay away from him, and he believes that is the reason why Lil Win has decided not to star in the same movie with him.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, he denied using any ‘juju’ on Lil Win stating however, that Lil Win is making it difficult for him to communicate with him because for some time now, he (Lil Win) has refused to answer his calls.

“I don’t have any problem with Lil Win or anybody in this industry. He is my junior bother and I played a major part in the beginning when he started acting and we have been in so many movies together. I think some people are corrupting his mind with false information about me but I wonder where those people advising him against me now were in the beginning, when he started acting”.

Lil Win Reacts...

Reacting to these allegations for the first time, Lil Win, in an exclusive interview on Neat 100.9 FM’s “Entertainment Ghana show”, dismissed all those allegations, stating that it’s all attempts by some people to destroy his hard-earned reputation and his friendship with Kwaku Manu.
Lil Win laughed off the allegations, saying “I have no problem at all with my brother Kwaku Manu. I don’t know if he has a problem with me. It will be very sad for our fans to hear that Lil Win and Kwaku Manu are not on talking terms, but that will never happen. In this world, when you want to listen to what people are saying, you may end up not talking to your own friends and even your family members”.

On the issue of ‘juju’, Lil Win said he also heard that Kwaku Manu was going round saying he (Lil Win) was using ‘juju’ against him, that is the reason why he is not being cast in movies anymore.

“I don’t use juju. It is God who has made me who I am now, and I depend on God in all things. I have no problem whatsoever with Kwaku Manu”.

Lil Win said he confronted Kwuku Manu when he mentioned the issue of ‘juju’, and he accepted and apologized. “When I heard the rumors that he (Kweku Manu) claims i was using juju on him, I asked him why he said that and he apologized and admitted that he said that, out of anger and frustration because we don't seem to be as close a unit as before, and that he wanted us to be back together again as good friends”.

Lil Win further stated that its possible he might have failed to respond to Kwaku Manu's calls because he (Lil Win) did not know his (Kweku Manu's) new number, but he is not deliberately avoiding him as being alleged.

“Maybe when he called me, I didn’t know it was his number. I have not said anywhere that I will not act with him. It is the producers who decide who they want to cast in their movies”.

Asked if he would star in the same movie with Kwaku Manu, Lil Win said “If a producer casts me and my brother Kwaku Manu in the same movie even today, I am ready, for all those who think we are fighting to know that there is no problem between us.

Lil Win said, nothing would make him disrespect his senior brothers Agya Koo and Kwaku Manu, or anybody in the movie industry.
