 wife believes castro is alive
The ongoing missing misery of Hiplife artiste, Castro and Janet Bandu, has caused many people to express varied opinions on the status of the artiste and his acquaintance with some already declaring him dead and others thinking a publicity stunt is at play.

One of the important figures in Castro’s life, Mrs. Dorothy Tagoe has also expressed her opinion on the status of her husband as to whether he’s dead, alive or missing.

Mr. Nicholas Adu-Gyamfi, an Uncle to Mrs. Tagoe has disclosed to Razz Newspaper that Dorothy and the rest of the family have the strongest belief that the artiste is still alive. “Castro's wife and her family believe that Castro is not dead. He’s missing and we are all searching for him. We believe strongly that we will see him,” he said.

“We in Ghana who represent Mrs. Dorothy have been to Ada and we think the media can help us without concentrating on her,” he commented on the media’s attention being drawn to her.

Commenting on why Mrs. Dorothy Tagoe has not turned up in the country after Razz Newspaper’s publication last week that she was supposed to be in Ghana; Mr. Adu-Gyamfi responded, “We know the media want news, but you should also consider the situation at hand and the woman involved. It’s not easy and so if she doesn’t want to speak to the media now, we will have to respect that. When she’s ready to speak to the media, will let you know.”

He also added that families of Castro and Dorothy have been very collaborative in their search for the multiple, award-winning artiste. According to him, there has been effective communication between the two families and the reasons for Dorothy’s absence in Ghana since the incident is well understood by Castro’s family.

On speculations about Castro and Dorothy having divorced or having challenges with their marriage before the incident, Mr. Adu-Gyamfi stated; “If not for this issue that has come up, I don’t think you will be interested in knowing the state of their marriage, but like I keep saying, they are still married! They have not broken up.”

The search is still on for Castro and Janet Bandu, who were reported missing during a weekend rendezvous on 6th July, 2014 at Ada.

Obrafour dumps rap; opts for Highlife - blissgh
Ghana’s rap legend Obrafuor aka Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere Darko, last week told Flex newspaper in an exclusive interview at DanceStardom that he is forgoing rap for now to enter into mainstream Highlife music.

According to the rap legend, he has done a lot of songs in rap and has realized that any time he is featured on people’s songs, he does the singing often but he has noticed that his singing delivery makes him stands out.

“I am focusing on singing and I know people will accept me. I want to leave a mark,” he noted.

Obrafuor revealed to Flex newspaper that he currently is in the studio recording one of his latest tracks on the yet-to-be released album with Samini and would be ready very soon.

“I am an artiste that cherishes my listeners and I always have it in mind not to do anything at all for them but rather take my time and give them the best. I have recorded some highlife songs, but I am still not satisfied so I am still on it adding varieties to spice it up,” Obrafuor intimated.

When he was questioned about his supposed change of name that was in the news some months ago, he said, he had never done that but the truth of the matter is that, he did an album which was strictly hip hop entitled ‘Obrafoforo’ meaning ‘new life’. He said this could have been the reason why people thought he had changed his name.

Obrafuor who is also known as ‘rap sofuor’ which literary translates as ‘rap pastor’ disclosed that being the ‘rap pastor’, he tries to make his accolade manifest in his life.

“If Jesus Christ comes and takes us to his throne to enjoy everlasting life in heaven…while I live, I have to live a righteous life and win souls for Christ but I didn’t say I wanted to be a Pastor or an Apostle but rather to live the doctrines of my church for all to see,” he added.

As to being a man of God or singing gospel, Obrafuor says it’s God who will decide and that if God wants him to toe that line, it shall come to pass.

Grace Ashy Suspended Over Exams Fraud - blissgh

The Methodist University College, Ghana (MUC) has suspended gospel artiste Grace Ashy, a student of the school, over charges of examination fraud, NEWS-ONE has gathered.

The popular gospel musician, known for her cheer songs for the Black Stars, was reported to have been caught a couple of times cheating during internal examination; a behaviour the school considered as gross misconduct and eventually penalised her.

When NEWS-ONE called Grace Ashy on Tuesday afternoon over the story, she said the matter could not be discussed on phone and therefore declined giving any explanation.

“Grace Ashy and some other students who were caught cheating during the exams were hauled to face the DC (Disciplinary Committee) but they were unable to defend themselves. They were therefore suspended. This is not the first time she has been involved in such a thing,” a course mate of the musician told the paper.

The duration of the suspension is unclear. While one report said Grace Ashy is on suspension for two semesters, another said she is on suspension for two academic years.

Grace Ashy doubles as the proprietor of a private basic school and a role model to many children.

She has strongly backed the Black Stars, Black Queens and the U-20 Women’s side for several years.

Her amazing cheer songs for the Black Stars have rallied support for the team and the country as a whole.

When numerous fans streamed through the entrance of Alliance Francaise and braced the slight downpour on the night of Saturday April 19, 2014, they expected to leave with a worthy memory and a thrilling experience.

At the end of about four hours of amazing performances from over a dozen hip-hop artistes, each one of the concert attendees left with fulfilled expectations.

The B.A.R Concert featuring the poster boy of BBnZ Live, EL, not only sold a great concert but gave a clear indication that they meant business.

The B.A.R Concert was organized at the back of EL’s mix tape, ‘B.A.R’ (Best African Rapper) to celebrate the album and promote hip-hop in Ghana.

STAGE DESIGN
The stage set was nicely done with a giant screen behind the artistes and drum set. It was to provide a slide show of some of the artistes who came on the stage.

The stage also featured two DJs set for the two turntable jockeys to play on. DJ Mic Smith and DJ Julz (both resident DJs of BBnZ) dished out some real good hip-hop sounds of the early 90s through to today’s hits.

This set the fans in the groove and also ensured there were no boring intermissions. The set design coupled with the lighting system and other aesthetics could not be faulted.

PERFORMANCES

The show was opened by Temples, Chimney Crime before the Afro Harmony band came on. One amazing thing was the peaking order of energy the performances took. And by the time Cabum was done with his performance, the whole place was buzzing high.

The audience went into frenzy when EL came on stage. Performing songs from the ‘B.A.R’ mixtape, the audience could not help but rap along. Other artistes who shared the stage included Lil Shaker, Gemini, Kojo Cue (BBnZ acts), Trigmatic, XO Senavoe, C-Real, Joey B, Rumour, Dex Kwesi (who called out Wanlov), Scientific, Dee Money, Bebelino among other acts.

The night was replete with highlights including Shaolin Monk Funk’s (SMF) appearance. SMF are one of the earliest hip-hop groups in Ghana and seeing them on stage in their early 90s hip-hop gear was nostalgic. Also, how the likes of Jayso and J-Town were introduced carried such finesse.

Jayso, J-Town and EL were part of the Skillions, a group of young rappers credited with helping shape the then infant hip-hop genre in Ghana to where it is currently. The three are the ‘active’ members of the now defunct rap group.

While Jayso performed his new track ‘Make Tasha Proud’ with one of the sensational voices on the scene now A.I, J-Town brought the real hip-hop flavour on stage doing songs from his ‘Feel My Wrath’ album.

Though the night was to celebrate EL, reigning rap king Sarkodie nearly stole the spotlight. His performance brought two things into focus. First, Sarkodie knows how to rock crowd with his performances. Secondly, the crowd or fans love him to bits.

It was incredible seeing Ghanaians opening up and embracing their own musicians. One other artiste who surprised fans was Stargo; a very diminutive man with incredible lyrical prowess.

One impressive exhibition was that most of the artistes such as EL, Trigmatic, XO Senavoe, JaySo, Rumour and Joey B performed with live band. Others performed with dubbed CD (which had a chorus and bit of actual songs on).

This was a shift from the miming many have complained about, an indication that hip-hop could be performed with a live band.

CROWD REACTION
The crowd was supportive throughout the show. They sang and rapped, danced, cheered, mobbed and applauded the various artistes on stage. Having pushed towards the stage, they added the extra verve, a ton of energy which complimented the stage performances of artistes. The crowd at the BAR Concert was not the usual ‘let-me-sit-and-watch- their-performances’ kind.

Those at the BAR concert were mostly the youth, bubbling with energy, all partying and all jamming. They also showed massive love to the likes of Stargo, Trigmatic, XO, SMF among others.

Despite the success of the event, there were low points. The sound and the mic disappointed at times. Also, the band which played muffled the voice of some of the performers. And there was the MC, who was ridiculously fake and a joke. Whoever hired him did a great disservice to the show.

The BAR Concert will remain one of the best organized shows this year. If there is one forceful point the BAR Concert made it was that hip-hop in Ghana is finally earning the bright halo it has been waiting for all this while.

As EL revealed, there would be another show in December. If BBnZ succeeds in pulling off that one too, then one could confidently say they are in for business within the circles of event organizing.

I don’t call it flaunting of wealth - Davido - blissgh
Photo: Davido
Davido, who is enjoying a place in the top-5 of Nigerian highest paid artistes, has spoken in one of the recent interviews about his love for showing his expensive purchases in social media.

Within the 2-month period the young singer’s fans could see many attributes of his luxurious life: from N5.6 million Rolex watches and high class cars to the incredible gold-plated headphones specially customized for the award-winning musician.

While some appreciated Davido sharing his pleasure out of getting cool things, the others criticized him for wasting money on toys instead of using it for the good of the society.

Speaking with Econmium magazine, Davido responded to the attacks:
"I don’t call it flaunting of wealth. It is my car, my money and it is even my page. You don’t have to follow me on instagram. You don’t have to follow me on social media. It would have being different if I was advertising all this on a billboard. I am not doing that."
Meanwhile just several weeks ago the 21-year-old singer won the Best International Act award at the BET awards held in Los Angeles. According to Davido, he was very surprised to receive it adding what brilliant artistes were among the nominees.

No one knows for sure if Apple really is announcing a bigger iPhone, but that hasn't stopped Samsung from taking yet another jab at its rival. The company's derisive new commercial shows a man excitedly commenting on rumors about the upcoming iPhone 6's screen size. His enthusiasm is crushed when his friend, who is glued to a Galaxy S5, asks, "This hasn't happened yet?" The 30-second video then continues with the narrator slyly alluding to the fact that bigger smartphones are available right now — if iPhone proponents are willing to defect, that is. Historically speaking, Samsung has never been shy about deriding Apple products. Just earlier this month, the company had released another commercial, except this one focused on mocking the iPhone's questionable battery life instead of the display size of an unreleased smartphone.

Nigerian actor and producer Desmond Elliot has spoken about the secret ingredient of happy long-lasting marriage.

The Nollywood star, who won best supporting actor at the second Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, revealed that every woman needs attention, while men think money is the main issue, Nigeriafilms reports.

He was quoted saying:

"Women love attention, they want to know that they are loved and there is security but for a man, all he is thinking about is money, while a woman knows that though you still need to provide for the family, she would still crave for attention. A man sees the question’ how are you as how are you’ but a woman sees how are you in three different ways. She begins to think, okay, why is he asking me how I am? At what time is he asking how are you? Did one word come before the other?"

Desmond who is crazy in love with his wife once said his spouse meant "the whole world" to him adding they had been dating for 8 years before getting married.

The power couple's marriage is on the rocks, according to a source.

Beyoncé and Jay Z have more than 99 problems and only “divine intervention” can save the troubled marriage, a source close to the powerful couple has told The Post.

While Jay Z seemingly is the one most at fault, he’s also the one doing all in his power to keep the couple together, even hiring marriage counselors who are believed to be traveling with the super duo on their tour, the source said.

“They are trying to figure out a way to split without divorcing . . . This is a huge concert tour and they’ve already gotten most of the money from the promoters up front,” the source said.

Despite the tens of millions the couple will pocket from the current tour, this will certainly be their last and the end of the tour could officially spell the end of the marriage, the source said.

“There are no rings, if you haven’t noticed,” the source said, admitting that he thought things would get better after the birth of the couple’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

“For just a split moment, things got real for them and she was even talking about adding to the family,” the source said.

“But, after a while, Jay was out doing Jay and Bey was out doing Bey. They made the classic mistake of thinking a child would change everything and help to rekindle the initial fire, and it didn’t.”
