Micheal Owusu Addo popularly known in the music industry as Sarkodie was born on July 10, 1988 to his mother, Emma Maame Aggrey. A single parent who raised him among five children at Tema and was enrolled in Achimota
preparatory and Tema Methodist Day senior high school. Sarkodie is often found rapping in his native language (twi), for this, he’s known to be all- round rapper due to the various styles he uses in rapping. He’s greatly recognized as the best local rapper because of the talent he has in free styling off head with existence matters occurring in our world. He was then discovered by the C.E.O of the last two music Edward Nana Poku Osei popularly known as hammer. Sarkodie is currently under the management of Duncwills Entertainment; and Entertainment personnel who is popularly known as Doctor Duncan on Adom f.m’s kasahare level. RECOGNITION
Sarkodie also reffered as obidi pon bidi is a Ghanaian hip hop recording artist, entertainer and a brand ambassador. Many Ghanaians recognize him as one of the leading hip hop /hip life artist in the country. He is considered as one of the major proponent of the Azonto genre and dance. In 2010, he received many awards and nominations ranging from ’’Artist of the year” to “album of the year”. His sophomore album, RAPPERHOLIC, was the recipient of 3 Ghana Music Awards from 12 nominations. He is brand ambassador for Samsung mobile. In 2013, he signed an endorsement deal with FanMilk Ghana. Sarkodie is currently in partnership with Tigo Communications Ghana, a brand that sponsored 2013 rapperholic tour. He owns his own clothing line called “sark” by yas clothing line. He was ranked 8th on Forbes and channel O’s 2013 list of the Top 10 Richest/Bankable African Artistes. He is the first Ghanaian to win BET awards for “Best International African Act”.
