The police gave the names of the suspects as Seth Amoako and Kelvin Wood, who are said to have taken turns to rape the 16-year-old girl, while the others either fondled her breasts or inserted their fingers into her private parts.
The police have since mounted a search for the three accomplices, including the victim’s boyfriend, who was only identified as Evanda. The other two suspects are Desmond Akwatia and another person identified only as Emmanuel.
Emmanuel was said to have videoed the escapade with his mobile phone.
Victim threatened to jilt boyfriend
Briefing the Daily Graphic Tuesday, the officer in charge of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Kaneshie, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mrs Anita Abrakwa, said preliminary investigations showed that the young men planned to sexually assault the victim after she had threatened to jilt her boyfriend.
She said the victim had been in a relationship with Evanda since last year but she threatened to quit the relationship and that did not go down well with Evanda.
According to Mrs Abrakwa, about 7:30 p.m. on March 10, 2016, Evanda went to the victim’s house at Darkuman where she lived with her parents.
She said the victim, whose parents had travelled at that time, was alone in the house.
Incident
Evanda, she said, managed to convince the victim to accompany him to his friend’s house to collect his attire and she obliged.
On reaching the friend’s house, she said Evanda ushered the victim into a room and attempted to rape her but she resisted.
While the victim was alone in the room she said Evanda came back with the excuse of wanting to charge his phone, but suddenly pounced on her and attempted to rape her again but he failed to have an erection.
Mrs Abrakwa said Evanda left the room in annoyance after which Seth, Kelvin and Emmanuel entered and took turns to rape the victim with Evanda joining them later.
She said the victim claimed Desmond fondled her breast and sucked it while she cried for help.
Mrs Abrakwa said the incident was later reported to the police who gave the victim a medical form to seek medical attention.
While investigations were going on, she said the police managed to arrest two of the suspects and added that efforts were still underway to arrest the others.
