The Founder of the International Gods Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has hit back at former President Rawlings for criticising his ministry and his healing methods. The former President at a meeting with some chiefs from the Volta Region accused Obinim and another preacher, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as ‘Kumchacha of misleading Ghanaians and using the name of God in vain. But in a dramatic fashion, Obinim took the opportunity during one of his church service to “deal” with former President Rawlings. “You Rawlings, all the nonsense you spoke about me is captured on a video on my phone.

Your own people called me to tell what you said about me and advised that I shouldn’t mind you. Because of the respect I have for you, I didn’t say anything. I respect you and all my pastors respect you so respect yourself as a former President.” Bishop also warned Mr. Rawlings against commenting on spiritual issues, threatening that, he will ensure that he is dealt with by the Christ he serves. “You are old and so you should be using all the knowledge and sense you have acquired over the years to help govern the nation, but don’t sit on air and talk about me. This should be the last time you talk about me.

Don’t mention my name in any conversation again, otherwise Jesus Christ, who called me to do his work will deal with you,” he added. According to him, Ghanaians who do not understand spiritual matters should leave the men of God alone and not criticize them for doing their job. “Do you know the caliber of people God is using us to save? if Castro knew he would die, would he have died? Do you know the prophecies I give to people and if you don’t understand, don’t sit on radio and television and talk about me. All you had to do was pick up a phone and call me.” He also threatened those who were sabotaging his efforts in saving lives for Christ. “You sit there, insult people and spoil my work.

You will see what I will do to you and if you say you have a place where you go for protection, you better hurry up and go there because I will show you that wherever you are going, I will beat that spirit. I, Obinim, in the name of the God Almighty, you will see what I will do to all of you. When Jesus was sharing the gifts, this is what he gave me.”

A Nigerian man, Abuchi Ngwoke, 35, was sentenced to death today November 25th, by a Malaysian Hight Court on a drug trafficking conviction . Ngwoke was arrested at a Malaysian airport in 2012 after being found with 251.66 grams of Methamphetamine.

A date has not yet been set for his execution.

From a relatively unknown UK-based artiste, Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’Banj has become one of the biggest musicians in Africa over the last decade.

Widely known as the Kokomaster, D’banj has several local and international awards and endorsement deals to his name today.

However, the pop star seems to be going through an unpleasant period in his career as some people who claim to be owed by D’banj are threatening a legal action against him.

According to NET investigations, the issuance of dud cheques and non-payment of accrued debts top the list of infractions against the DB Records boss who now calls himself Bangalee.

As things stand, D’banj may be dragged to court by a top oil and gas industry player, Henry Ojogho, Vice Chairman of Broron Group. Ojogho, who is also the Vice Chairman of MindHub Tehnologies, an integrated rice farming and milling Production Company.

He alleges that D’banj, through his company, DKM Media Limited, obtained a loan of over N60m from him in January 2013 and has not paid back the said sum despite signing an undertaking to do so.

In addition, the man is claiming that the entertainer has issued two cheques already; one on December 20, 2013 and another on January 20, 2014, both of which had to be returned unpaid after presentation because the pop star’ accounts were not funded enough.

Further investigations by NET revealed that Henry Ojogho is not the only wealthy man claiming D’banj owes him in recent times. There are a number of others, according to our sources.

Other people D’banj allegedly owes

It is alleged that D’banj approached a number of very wealthy people with business proposals, urging them to invest in the industry and set up entertainment companies.

With the promise of developing artistes and huge returns on investments, the businessmen became interested only for him to collect their money and move on to the next target with the same ‘format’.

Below is a list of a number of names he allegedly owes according to sources.

Walter Wagbatsoma (£200,000)

Walter is a billionaire with investments in major areas, ranging from oil and gas to real estate, banking, equities and even insurance.

He is also the founder and executive Vice Chairman of Ontario Oil and he’s one of the first men who were said to have handed money to D’banj, with a whopping sum of £200,000 said to be involved.

He’s the chairman, Board of Directors of Tetrazini Group of Companies and he is said to have given about $200,000 to D’banj in the name of investing in entertainment.

When the issue with Prince Okonkwo got out of hand, D’banj was said to have sought help from Dapo Abiodun, boss of Heyden Oil and Gas who helped him take care of the debt through a repayment plan.
Is D’banj broke?

D’banj’s last real album, a ground-breaking body of works titled The Entertainer was released in September 2008, before he released the DKM compilation in June 2013.

It’s safe therefore to say D’banj hasn’t released an album in the last six years, yet he has managed to stay very relevant in the industry, which is largely due to his staying power and tenacity.

Since 2014, he has been part of several campaigns in agriculture, poverty alleviation, economy, and recently became the first African Ambassador for BeatsByDre having signed a deal with tech giants, Apple.

He is also putting finishing touches to plans to drop an album in celebration of his 10th year anniversary in the music industry.

Having said that, it’s evident that while he has not headlined any major show in the last six months, D’banj has other multiple streams of income.

However, it is amazing that despite D’banj’s remarkable success and many endorsement deals over the years, he has no building or house of his own.

The place he currently calls home, a building on Osaro Isopkai Street in Lekki is a rented apartment. As a matter of fact, investigations revealed his current rent in the said apartment will expire this month.

D’banj returned to the country last Wednesday, November 12, 2014 after spending about three months in the United States of America.

And now that he is back, a court case bearing his name might come up for hearing soon except he is able to settle or pacify those who are reportedly waiting to swoop on him.

Five suspects arrested in connection with the cocaine bust of Nayele Ametefe, made a return to the VIP lounge to give officials an idea of how they made use of the facility. The suspects were accompanied by officials of the BNI and National Security.

Selected media personnel were also present but were not allowed to record or take pictures.

Joy News’ Dzifa Bampoh who gleaned some information from the return, named the suspects as Nana Akua Amponsah and Sadalia Nuhu, Foreign Ministry officer, Abiel Ashitey Armah, Theophilious Kissi a foreign service officer, and Ahmed Abubakr, a protocol officer at the VIP lounge.

A BNI official who briefed the press said a CCTV camera footage was used to ascertain the identities of the ladies which eventually facilitated the arrest of the suspect.


Narrating the circumstances under which the suspects used the VIP lounge, the BNI official said two weeks ago, on the orders of Mr. Armah the three ladies Nayele, Nana Akua, and Sadalia were brought to the VIP lounge and were taken through the travel and check-in processes by Mr. Kissi and Mr. Abubakr.

Their luggages went through the normal security scans and the ladies were made to go through a scanner. Their hand luggage also went through the scanner.

But the briefing did not address what happened on the tarmac, which is where Nayele claimed she was handed the bag containing the cocaine.

Nayele Ametefe together with her accomplices succeeded in breaching security at the Kotoka International Airport but were later arrested in the UK.

It is not clear yet how and why the two other ladies returned to Ghana but they were arrested soon after.

Dancehall artiste Samini is pleading with the Kumasi court hearing the case involving hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese to consider referring him to a rehab facility and community service instead of putting him in jail.

The 'Linda' hit maker also wants the laws on the use of cannabis relaxed.

Kwaw Kese faces a possible jail term should the court find him guilty of smoking an illegal narcotic substance in public, a crime that attracts a 5 to 10 term.

It's really not the right time of the year for anybody to be going through what my brother and fellow artiste @kwawkese is going through at the moment.

It's Sad and unfortunate that he was caught slipping and has been made a scapegoat in this situation.

As a people we all break the law directly and indirectly at some point and usually get away with it.

It is only when you come into contact with the law head-on that you get the wakeup call. I'm sure my brother has regretted his actions already with the Kind of humiliation he's been through in the past few days behind bars.

We live in a society where hypocrisy and ignorance are normal ways. People litter the streets to give us cholera and are left to roam about doing it every day.

Others run red lights and pay bribes in traffic constantly. Just to mention a few we realise how many times we commit petty crimes and walk freely.

This is a case of the abuse of a substance and we need to draw the line between being a criminal and an addict on a substance. What happened to fines and rehabs for patients? Are we going to rather lock up and destroy a victim to a societal substance abuse rather than reform and rehab them to return and contribute to society?

He's an entertainer and a Dad. Moreover in more developed countries such substances are seen as purely recreational when it's just a quantity for personal use.

And these laws we use here were brought in by these countries who have over the years seen the need to revisit and decriminalise certain acts including smoking just a joint. We have stuck to it like the wigs in the court rooms when it's 90 degrees blazing hot. Lol.

Our judicial system needs to be revised as those who formed it for us no longer use them. He shouldn't have used it in a public place as it's not legal in Ghana. We collectively as an industry apologise on his behalf and beg for mercy on him. He can be better in society by rehab as a user than jail as he's not a dealer. A word to the wise ......#Freekwawkese

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court has remanded Hiplife artiste, Emmanuel Botchway, popularly known as Kwaw Kese, into prison custody for allegedly smoking cannabis in public.

Kwaw Kese was arrested Saturday at a wine shop close to Plus Two pub at Nhyiaseo, a suburb of Kumasi.

He was denied bail upon arrest, and was remanded in police custody until he appeared in court on Monday.

However, the court, presided over by Judge William Boampong remanded him to reappear on December 8 after persecutors argued that they were still investigating the matter.

The self-styled King of the Streets was put before court and formally charged with using narcotic drug without lawful authority

A somber-looking Kwaw Kese was escorted into a police van and sent to the Kumasi Central Prison which will serve as his new home for two weeks until he returns to court.

According to ASP Charles Appiah, Head of Drug Law Enforcement Unit, a police patrol team saw Kwaw smoking the cannabis on Saturday and arrested him.

Kwaw Kese’s lawyer, Kwasi Baoitey, argued that the substance had not been confirmed to be cannabis and there was no justification to continue holding him.

He told the court that cigarettes can be mistaken for cannabis and until the substance was confirmed by a laboratory, the musician ought to be presumed to be innocent and therefore granted bail.

ASP Appiah however says “We all know cannabis and he will not deny, he hasn’t denied,” the policeman said.

Kwaw’s lawyer further argued that there was no justification to continue to detain him because he cannot interfere with any police investigations.

ASP Mohammed Tanko, Ashanti Regional Police PRO speaking on Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM earlier, said Kwaw Kese could face a minimum of 10 years’ imprisonment if found guilty.

Stephanie Okereke’s Elder Brother Allegedly Raped UNILAG Student Arinola, Nigerian Actress Reacts

Last week, Nigerian actress Stephanie Okereke’s older brother was arrested for his alleged involvement in a rape case involving a University of Lagos undergraduate, Arinola.

Daniel Okereke was alleged to have drugged Arinola and had intimacy with her while 4 men tied her up.

His case is now being investigated.

Stephanie few hours ago released a press statement to distance herself from her brother.

The Nollywood diva asked the media to avoid attaching her name to the damaging story.

In her own words:

I am distraught and devastated to hear of the recent allegation of rape brought against a relative of mine, Daniel Okereke (my brother).

While it is a very difficult time for me, and my family; I feel the need to make clear my position, lest there be any doubt. Rape is rape, regardless of who the face of the accused is.

Indeed, the irony is not lost on me. I have spent my lifelong career advocating and living my conviction that women around the world should be able to live free of violence, sexual harassment or any form of abuse against their persons. This conviction led me to be involved in numerous initiatives combating violence against women in several countries including the U.S, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The conviction also led me to place much of my energy on my work with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), a passion that dates back to my time at the University of Calabar.

As a student, I heard a story about young girls who had been forced into early marriage and were suffering the negative and embarrassing effects of VVF. The story stayed in my consciousness and drove me, for years, to seek ways to raise awareness on the condition; leading to my work with a team of dedicated doctors to carry out repair surgeries for VVF victims across the country; and my self-produced, soon to be released movie, ‘DRY.’

So, again, it is indeed heart breaking for me to receive and deal with news alleging a family member of mine is an alleged perpetrator of sexual violence against a woman. I am devastated.

This case is now in Nigeria’s criminal justice system as the accused awaits arraignment. I have also encouraged and assured the alleged victim of my stance against rape and applaud her for her bravery to upset the culture of silence, in Nigeria; even as I accord deference and patiently wait for the criminal justice system to determine the guilt or innocence of my brother.

For Nigerian press and blogs; I call on you to please report this case in an ethical manner. I am a married woman living my life. The alleged transgression of my relative does not make it mine. The focus should be the impact of rape on the alleged victim, and resources for other alleged victims, not me.

Some members of the press and blogs have turned me into the accuser; using my name for sensational headlines and putting my images, exclusively, in their stories. This is a form of victimization of me as a woman, its unethical and extremely hurtful. I am not the alleged accused.

I therefore please ask all bloggers and the media who have placed my pictures and name to this story to refrain from further using me to sensationalise this story.
