 Ghana’s highly respected music producer and artiste manager, Anoff Panji, has publicly declared he is gay though the country has an open homophobic culture.

“I wish to announce today that I am gay, so that all the people who don’t want a gay friend on facebook, can unfriend me now. I will miss you all, but I think it will make my Facebook world a better place,” Panji wrote on his official facebook page last Monday, becoming the first Ghanaian celeb to publicly reveal his sexual orientation.

Panji is the manager of King Ayisoba, Wanlov the Kubolor, M3nsa Ansah, Yaa Pono, King Luu, Mutombo the Poet, Atsu Numadzi and Mawuko Kuadzi.

Though his statement earned him some insults, many were of the opinion that the Facebook account could have either been hacked or he was using the word “gay” in a certain context since he is a married man with children.

But the renowned artiste manager on Thursday seemed to have cleared doubts on the meaning of his statement when he told Hitz FM on Thursday, “I wrote that because I realise that as I was reading my facebook page and I was coming up against a lot of prejudice and I believe in freedom and I believe that a crime without a victim is not a crime.

“If I am here and I love my boyfriend I don’t see why it is a crime against any human being because who is the victim? This is something that two people have agreed on so who is the victim in this case? So I don’t see how it is a crime or I don’t see how I have made a wrong statement,” he added.

Asked if he was gay, Panji replied, “Yes, that is the statement I made.”

He explained further: “I thought the mode of discrimination levelled against gay practices would have helped me out and earned me the same criticism but that’s not happening. With this feedback, those afraid to make public their sexuality, the impact isn’t that serious as it seemed,” Panji chorused.

The implications of Panji’s statement are not yet certain because Ghanaian homosexuals live in fear and suffer a serious condemnation from society.

There have been reports of people who have been beaten up on the streets or even chased out of their neighbourhoods because they were suspected to be homosexuals.

Ghanaian actor John Dumelo, over the weekend, suddenly developed an appetite for the succulent breasts of actress Yvonne Nelson in the full glare of onlookers at the M-Plaza Hotel in Accra.

The two were at the hotel as part of guests at the launch of Chase Forever’s newest album.
It was not John’s first time doing such a thing, as he is known for cuddling ladies, both on the screens and in real life.

Early last year, Dumelo made the headlines after journalists published photos of him grabbing an unnamed lady’s buttocks at the National Theatre during the premiere of Yvonne Okoro’s ‘Contract’.

In the last few months, Dumelo and Yvonne Nelson have been all over the place on social media with their funny romantic videos, fuelling speculations that they had something amorous going on.

On Saturday, during a photo session, John tried to touch Yvonne’s breasts after the dress she was wearing gave a clear view of her chest and sides of her breasts.

He tried several times to touch it but she stopped him.

Meanwhile, exclusive photos captured by NEWS-ONE gave an obvious indication that he might have succeeded in touching the much envied boobs.

The troubled celebrity spent about 3 months behind the bars over violating the probation in connection with Rihanna’s case. He was even had to celebrate his 25th birthday in prison.

Many have questioned the health state of the half of music duo, Bradez; Kunta Kinte, who has not been musically active after he was struck by stroke some years ago.

Just as many were praying that he recovered and joined his brother to continue with their music activities, it was evident that his ill health had not permitted him to do what he could do when he was very strong.

The 'Bradez' duo seems to be tearing apart since Kwaku Nsiah Boamah aka Stone has decided to release his solo album called 'The Gifted.'

Flowking Stone elaborated in a video he releases few weeks ago “the Gifted album is about giving all of me. When you are in a group as I am, I get to contribute half of the song and my brother would add up the other half to make it a complete song.

But when you do a solo album, you get to do all. You choose to sing the chorus, a hook, put in your verses and skill, and you get to go all out,” he told Citifmonline

Even though Stone has explained that he would be doing an album with his brother after his solo project, Flex newspaper is of the opinion that Kunta Kinte's not-so-well status may have necessitated Stone's solo project.

As sad as It may be due his health status overshadowing his talent; this could be the exit of Kunta Kinte from the music scene.

It`s also crucial that if the music activity posed a threat to his health then, he should stay calm and do things that would keep him healthier.

A popular Nollywood actor Jim Iyke was harshly criticized by some Nigerians for fleeing from Liberia without having been tested for Ebola.

Earlier today Jim Iyke posted a photo of himself wearing an expensive Ebola mask and a message on his Instagram page saying he had cut short a business trip to Monrovia in Liberia. The luxury image of Iyke in stark contrast to the thousands of terrified Liberians who are living in fear of lapsing into the deadly illness sparked outrage among Nigerian citizens.

Twitter user @Avariberry posted a message reading: ‘Jim Iyke or Not… he gotta be screened. #TestJimIyke.‘

Another concerned citizen @IcallDibbz_ said: ‘Please ooo, James Ikechukwu, aka Jim Iyke, should be quarantined.’

Others picked up on the fact Iyke had an expensive face mask to protect himself, but was wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt.

Yesterday sad news came from Sierra Leone, saying the country top doctor who got infected with the Ebola virus while attending his patients died himself days after having tested positive.

Meanwhile, Nigerians also got alerted last week after the man from Liberia with Ebola symptoms, who has been allowed to board an international flight from Liberia to Nigeria, passed away at a Lagos hospital.

Nigeria health officials are in the process of tracing 30,000 people at risk of contracting the disease after coming into contact with the Liberian man.

Ebola is transmitted through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals, and in many parts of West Africa people are being told to cover as much of their body as possible to ensure the infection doesn’t enter their bloodstream through a small cut.

Former Hip-life star, Abraham Philip Akpor Kojo Kenya, popularly known as Lord Kenya has cautioned radio presenters and DJ’s across the country to stop playing his hip-life songs he describes as “ungodly”.

He said once he has repented from his old lifestyle, anything “worldly” should not be associated with him because he is now born again.

The former “Sika Baa” hit maker was speaking at a thanksgiving service organized by Raffle International Schools at Kumasi-Tanoso.

The one-time rap heavyweight stated “If they continue to play my old songs and lead people into destruction, God will hold them [the DJs] accountable not me Lord Kenya,”

“They should stop playing the music - it’s my own intellectual property and I have seen the light now so the DJ’s should stop enjoying my songs on air” he stressed.

Lord Kenya, now Evangelist Lord Kenya, expressed shock at the refusal of radio presenters in Ghana to play songs from his new gospel album, "Christ Life" which was released in 2011, but they keep playing secular songs he recorded in the late ’90 and early 2000s.

He reiterated that he had given up on his old lifestyle and given his life to Christ so he is a new person.

Lord Kenya is noted for secular songs like ‘Driver Susu Ko’, ‘Sika Baa’, ‘Okafuo Didi’, ‘Sika Mpo Nfaneho’ and ‘Born Again’ among others.

He won Artiste of the Year, Hiplife Ariste of the Year, and Hiplife Album of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards 2001, and Best Ghanaian Rap Music Award at the Anansekrom Festival in Canada 2000 among others.

Meanwhile, popular DJs Bills Gborgli (Papa Bills) and Samuel Nartey (DJ Awana) of Adom FM and Hitz FM respectively disagree with Lord Kenya.

Papa Bills thinks Lord Kenya should rather focus on promoting his gospel songs as he promoted his hiplife songs back in the days, instead of trying to stop DJs from playing his secular songs.

Intellectual Property Lawyer, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi said it will be difficult for the presenters to heed to Lord Kenya’s directive.

He therefore advised Lord Kenya to concentrate on his new carrier as a man of God, and forget about what DJs do with his old songs.

Not many celebrities openly admit the challenges that life throws at them but for rapper and Afrobeat singer, Eazzy, it has not been difficult for her to come out boldly to say so as she releases her first gospel song, Unknown.

The Wengeze singer narrates in her song how she had to silently go through the most difficult time in her life last year when all odds seemed to be against her in her career and also in her relationship.

She told Showbiz on Tuesday that as a young lady working hard to make life meaningful for herself, she has learnt a great lesson that God is the solution to everyone’s problem.

“Yes, last year, many people saw me performing at shows and probably for some, those were the best moments in my life but in reality, things were not going well for me at all.

I had to brace myself for the public anytime I stepped out because as a celebrity, one is expected to be happy all the time and that is what I did.

“But at a point in time, I realised that if I didn’t turn to God, things would get worse. I wasn’t happy within and what was happening to me was beyond my understanding.

It is not as if I was disappointed in life. But it is just that I got to a point that I needed God to intervene. I needed Him to strengthen me to fight ahead”, she said.

Eazzy who wasn’t interested in giving details of the “trials” she went through said that she is happy things are gradually turning out well for her.

Like the story of the Prodigal Son, Eazzy, who sang about how she wants God to help her know what it takes to be strong and hold on to life on Unknown refuted claims that she has turned to gospel music because things were not really going on well for her in her music career.

“It’s interesting how people have read meanings into the song since it was released. Some have even attributed the lyrics to my break-up with Keitta. It is not easy at all in this journey sometimes, things really get tough and you want to give up.

“A lot falls on my shoulders as one popular person in my family and sometimes, it is really challenging combining personal stuff with career ambitions,” a sober Eazzy said.

But Eazzy said despite the new path she has taken to draw closer to God, she has no intentions to be a gospel artiste as some people are speculating.

For her, as one who was brought up in a God fearing way, turning to God in the most difficult moment in her life is what is important.

“I believe the calling of God is real and I need not pretend that I’m ready to work for God. That is far from it. When I have the calling, I will do it.

I don’t think that I have erred at all; the late Whitney Houston released some gospel songs too. Sometimes, we need to let the world know what we also go through as celebrities”, she stated.

Eazzy who is currently working on her second album told Showbiz that she has resolved to compose more inspirational songs henceforth and called on her fans not to cease praying for her.

Shatta Wale’s bombardment of his social media pages, especially facebook, with pictures of his day-to-day activities possibly to update his fans, is said to have inspired a tweet from Kwaw Kese saying, some of these gh artists come to the us and act as tourists. Lol. Then after some minutes followed it up with Many GH artists are in the state but some fools think I'm referring to their champion, Ekutia biaa nim newura ampa!!!

Though the tweets are yet to attract a response from Shatta Wale team, a source within the Shatta Movement says they are aware of the issue and have had people calling them on it.

Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan can’t forget the good times he had with pal, Castro nearly three weeks after the ace hiplife musician went missing whilst riding a jet ski on the Volta lake in Ada.

Castro, real name Theophilus Tagoe has yet to be seen, dead or alive following the sighting of the empty jet ski he apparently went unto the water to ride with a female friend, one Janet Bandu, an Accra-based student who has also remained missing.

Gyan, who has since gone back to the United Arab Emirates where he only yesterday extended his contract by a whooping four years to 2018, has been talking up why he went into music with the sensational Castro.

“He (Castro) is one of the famous musicians in Ghana and he said, ‘hey don’t you see we can do something together?’ I said, ‘why not,’” Gyan explained the first time the suggestion for their music partnership evolved.

“I remember when we went to the studio, the engineer was asking if we were really serious about me singing and I said why not, I’m also a human being and I can sing. Castro told him that I am a musician, not a footballer,” Gyan added.
