Born Nana Ekua Amoah, the singer who will be celebrating 10 years of doing music in February 2015, emerged on the Ghanaian music scene as the sexiest female act alive.
The ‘Sixteen Years’ singer built her career on thrilling performances, controversy and what many Ghanaians described as nudity in dressing.
In an interview with Morning Starr host Kafui Dey on Friday, Mzbel said despite the controversy her choice of clothing and the lyrical content of her songs built, she never imagined being any different.
“I was only being myself…” the singer said. “It’s not strange anymore but I’m glad I started it. Back then, I got a lot of bashing from people but now they love it. I’m happy people are now embracing their feminine side [because of me].”
She agreed there are a lot of female acts on the international music scene who are also liberal in their dressing, but said she is her own inspiration in that regard.
Mzbel, unmarried, in the interview also revealed she was in a relationship although she declined to share the name of her man.
“That’s hard to tell. I’m not married but definitely not single,” she said.
The singer will be hosting a birthday bash at her birthplace James town in Accra late afternoon. She is expecting over 400 people at the party.
