Angry sisters of Adebayor namely Margaret Adebayor and Lucia Adebayor in the company of Ade’s cousin Aunty Kudirah Alabi and his niece Bukky Adeniyi stormed the premises of Peace FM in Accra to complain bitterly about the behaviour of the ex-Monaco star.
Adebayor’s elder sister, Margaret said, “for the past six years Adebayor has rejected his mother and his immediate family whilst doing charity outside on the premise that our mother is a witch.
"We have been thinking of his future as a footballer and did not want this issue out in the media but it is becoming too much."
She added: “Can you believe Adebayor ordered his machomen to sack our mother and his own mother from a house he built in Togo claiming she is a witch? As we speak our mother lives in an apartment rented by our junior brother, Kola Adebayor, who currently lives in Germany.
“My mother weeps bitterly about the issue every day. Anytime his mother or any of us call and he realises (it’s us) he will quickly cut the phone call”.
Margaret added that “I personally supervised the building of his house in Trassaco in Ghana and he gave us an apartment in the house. But all of a sudden he changed his attitude towards us, one afternoon his machomen came to drive us away from the house”.
Asked why Adebayor changed his attitude towards the family all of a sudden, Magaret retorted “Nobody can tell, we haven’t wronged him in anyway.
“For the past six years he has abandoned his responsibilities towards the family and does charity work instead. But as far as I know charity begins at home.”
Adebayor’s younger sister Lucia, who was in tears added that Adebayor made her stop schooling with the promise of taking her abroad but she is now selling tomatoes and pepper at Madina Market in Accra.
In response, the former Arsenal and Manchester City striker described the allegations as unfounded.
He, however, admitted that he is not on talking terms with his family because they have been plotting juju against him.
He also added that his sisters rented out a property he built for the them in East Legon without his knowledge.
"Ask my sister Margaret whether I did not build them a house in East Legon, and what happened to it? I bought my younger sister Lucia a car worth $35,000, where is it?" Ade quizzed.
The Togo national football team captain added "If they want the issue resolved they should stop spreading the news and let's meet to resolve it but they aren't willing to do so."
